Melissa Medina Diliberti (b. 1997) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist creating organic sculptural and figurative works inspired by the natural world and its relationship to the human body. Working with Venetian plaster, micro-cement, crystal, stone, shells, and other natural materials, Melissa creates surfaces that feel weathered, unearthed, and alive. Her practice draws from the tide pools, eroded coastlines, sandbanks, mineral formations, and changing landscapes of Southern California—places shaped slowly through movement, pressure, and time. Through sculptural paintings, plaster works, mirrors, and crystal-embellished surfaces, she explores the dialogue between earth and body, structure and surrender, strength and softness. Natural materials emerge from textured surfaces as though they have been uncovered rather than placed, giving each piece the presence of an artifact shaped by both human hands and the elements. Rooted in Melissa’s experiences of healing and returning to the body, the work remains open for the viewer to enter with their own memories and associations. Each piece becomes an invitation to slow down, observe more closely, and reconnect with the quiet intelligence of the natural world.
